Hastings’ pier is ALL about space.

Following a contentious arson story in 2010 which left the pier in a sorry state (photo here), the people of Hastings rallied round and, with a little help from the Lottery fund, raised the Β£14m necessary to reinforce the Victorian structure and create this open, versatile space. A bit like Marmite, it seems the general public either love it or hate it. Me? I kept an open mind until I could experience it for myself – it’s a GREAT space – in both senses of the word.

This big, empty space is a refreshing change from the usual noise put on for tourists.

  1. Looks like a wonderful space, but where were you Maxine to take the overhead shots? Do you now have a GoPro?

    1. LOL, no. Nor a drone although it would be fun. There is a platform in the middle of the pier where they serve wine… And other stuff πŸ™‚

  2. I read about this pier re-opening and it’s on the list for a visit. Plenty of open space – a fine place for people watching by the look of it.
