The final ‘Hoorah’ as Hastings’ Pier is sold

So, it was a sad day for social enterprise and community projects as Hastings pier passed out of the hands of ‘The People’ and into the hands of the receivers who then sold it on to an entrepreneurial businessman where it will, undoubtedly, be quickly turned into a hegemonic cash cow. The finer details of the transition, should you be further interested, are far more eloquently recorded here by a local community shaker and mover Jess Steele – I just popped down and grabbed these photos of the ‘last shout’ community rally; organised on Facebook at 2pm and quickly attended by local celebrities, musicians, pier shareholders, volunteers and the concerned general public by 6pm that evening – taking advantage of the months and months of hard work and heartbreak of everyone else to quickly take these images.
