Following a contentious arson story in 2010 which left the pier in a sorry state (photo here), the people of Hastings rallied round and, with a little help from the Lottery fund, raised the Β£14m necessary to reinforce the Victorian structure and create this open, versatile space. A bit like Marmite, it seems the general public either love it or hate it. Me? I kept an open mind until I could experience it for myself – it’s a GREAT space – in both senses of the word.
Looks like a wonderful space, but where were you Maxine to take the overhead shots? Do you now have a GoPro?
LOL, no. Nor a drone although it would be fun. There is a platform in the middle of the pier where they serve wine… And other stuff π
Sounds decadent and lovely.
LOVE decadent and lovely π
Great series of photos. I really love that last one
Thank you, Raewyn. It’s a good place to take a reflective moment.
I read about this pier re-opening and it’s on the list for a visit. Plenty of open space – a fine place for people watching by the look of it.
It’s a good place to lose a couple of hours. I hope you enjoy it too.
And loads of space to take great photos! π
Oh, I love the space and the opportunities I imagine it is going to offer.
